Telangana Elections – KCR To Take Oath As CM

K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the TRS President, is likely to take oath as the Chief Minister of Telangana, on Thursday, after the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won the Telangana Assembly elections with a majority of 88 seats, yesterday.

The TRS lawmakers met on Wednesday, at Pragati Bhavan, TRS party office, at 11:30 A.M., to formally elect KCR as the leader of the Telangana Legislative Assembly. An official announcement regarding KCR taking the oath on Thursday (tomorrow) is yet to be made and can be expected after today’s meeting. This will be KCR’s second term as the Chief Minister of Telangana.

KCR won in the Gajwel constituency with a lead of 51,000 votes. T. Harish Rao, another TRS leader, won in Siddipet with a majority of more than 1 lakh votes and K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) won in Sircilla.

The results of the Telangana Assembly elections were announced yesterday. As per the results, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 1 seat, the Prajakutami, an alliance between the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI,) secured 21 seats and the other parties managed to win 9 seats.

All the parties contested the elections for a total of 119 Assembly seats.
